They said they’d open source Pocket and they didn’t. In fact, they’ve simply allowed it to rot and just removed features. So here I think the skepticism is warranted.
I agree that X is enemy territory now, but in a world where billionaires can buy up all the major means of communication, it doesn’t feel like enough to just close up our accounts and move on. They can follow us wherever our accounts go and buy platforms out from under us. Lemmy and Mastodon are slightly better as open decentralized platforms, but they still could be attacked by Musk if he had the initiative to.
Honestly our sad EV offerings deserve to be disrupted
It was crazy visiting China last year. The EVs that everyday people are driving feel so polished and futuristic in many ways.
Yep, it lives up to the best of what immersive sims set out to be. You have point A, point B, and a million ways that you can go about getting from A to B
To me, Ctrl Alt Ego is not well known enough. It is an immersive sim in the style of Prey. You play as a robot roaming a station, where your Ego (like a spirit) can pass into and control all sorts of objects to solve puzzles, evade, control or kill enemies. The graphics aren’t impressive (it was made by a 2-person team) but the gameplay is so interesting and the story is surprisingly compelling and funny!
this is shitpost 5d chess.
20,000 people are playing it at a time. Not exactly a secret. The way they’re testing this game is radical and newsworthy in itself. I’m glad Verge reported on it, and they don’t seem mad they they were banned
LTT posted a do-over video with Stefan. He seems like a decent guy. Have followed him since then. https://youtu.be/QKzmYsySGFQ?si=AlEpsycL5ifF3RxD
Haven’t had to email a file to myself since I set up syncthing
Oklahoma man honored to finally be metabolized into various greenhouse gases
They’re thinking quarterly. Improves OneDrive usage stats. They can also then coerce customers later by saying they’re running out of storage. I’m sure some users will pay, thinking they’re about to lose family photos and other important data
I think people need to start being educated about how their climate influences how they can use the electric car. Many people know if they live by the sea or where roads are salted that corrosion is an issue. But people might not be aware that with some EVs, they should leave it plugged in if they’re in an extreme climate, so the car can air condition or heat the battery. I caused some battery degradation to my Volt because I wasn’t able to leave it plugged in living in Tucson.
The idea of holding developers of open source models responsible for the activities of forks is a terrible precedent
Gemini soon to be rebranded Allo Assistant All Access Chat
Edge is branding itself “The AI Browser”. Chrome has plans to embed LLMs for text input. Opera, the browser which was commandeered from the original Vivaldi team and turned into a crypto/VPN gimmick browser, is of course among the hardest leaning into the LLM trend.
It’s only if you want to find it that it’s hard to find. You have to pretend you don’t care either way.
Today I learned that people take it VERY PERSONALLY when you criticize their chosen browser. 😂
The two sides are not morally equal. Prop 8 was an awful, bigoted stain on California’s history and he was unrepentant. I am glad he no longer is at Firefox. And Brave is a sketchy company that makes clear it was a good decision to give him the boot. I can support companies with moral stances I agree with and not support companies that do bad things.
How is it clickbait?
