  • In my experience the only thing that makes a material professional grade is a paper trail. If something goes wrong and you get sued you want to be able to absolutely prove you didn’t cheap out on any of the materials. It adds a lot of cost to keep batches separate and making sure none of the paperwork gets mixed up. Especially if multiple companies are involved in creating and distributing the material. I work in an ISO compliant shop and we have a lot of folders moving around with different orders, it can be a nightmare keeping everything straight when things are busy.

  • I don’t think a Haltech ECU would pass inspection in most US states. I’ve had trouble getting my golf inspected with just a cat and a flash tune. There are emissions readiness monitors in most stock ECUs that need to show up for it to pass. The exhaust and tune i have aren’t even sold anymore because of the increasing number of legal restrictions. I get why it has to be that way but it does suck for people who want to work on their car.

  • Yeah exactly, people talk about how flying used to be so glamorous like it’s somehow not the same as international first class is today. I walked through the first class section on a transatlantic flight once and they had fully reclining lazy boy style seats with blankets and nice food/booze. All the seats were staggered so they could fully recline and had privacy screens you could draw shut. But those tickets are thousands of dollars, like $1000-$1500/hour of flight time at minimum, if you want to spend 20k USD you can basically cross the ocean in a flying hotel.
