Yes definitely. Try pressing the Windows key and type the first few letters of the app name you’re looking for, it’s way way faster than mousing around clicking and scrolling through the Start Menu.
Also Windows key + E to open the file explorer gets used a lot. And windows key + L to lock the screen, I do that one a lot when walking away from the desktop at work.
I rarely block people. I find it better just to leave Lemmy communities with problematic/annoying users… lemmy.world communities are the worst in that sense.
e.g. it might be me commenting in a non-political community about something random and then people jumping in and politicizing the thread and/or anything I wrote there. If I wanted to talk politics I’d join a politics sub, dealing with people that turn each and every post into something political gets old fast. And if the community moderators aren’t interested in moderating that shit then what’s the point sticking around in that community? So rather than block people I just leave those communities entirely & move on.

I’m also on that Kickstarter, really happy this one is nearing release. Now wondering if I should be doing a play through of the original Shadowgate before jumping into this one.

I’d definitely notice, mine is less than a year old so I still remember thinking about which side I wanted the refrigerator to open towards.
Plus right now it opens facing the rest of the kitchen area/counter and that works for me. If that suddenly got reversed it’d be a noticeable and annoying change.
Another thing I don’t get is people posting questions and then never engaging with the comments. Not answering follow-up questions or up-/downvoting answers.
On Reddit those were often bots attempting to establish an account with fake posts and karma before using it for spam. Not sure about Lemmy.
Instance owners can and should prune those type of inactive communities. Other instances do that sort of cleanup, not sure about lemmy.world’s own policy for that.
That’s fair, I wasn’t aware of what their specific arrangement was. Sort of suspected the K-9 dev was hired by Mozilla or they agreed to work together, that’s usually how these things go.
Both, sort of? It always had a free version along with a paid version that I think existed mostly for donations than anything else.
That was before Mozilla took it over, now I don’t think the paid version of the app even exists. I don’t know if Mozilla will eventually rebrand it as Thunderbird Android version or something but I’m not worried about it as long as it still works.
Been using K-9 Mail for a long time, works fine for me. I usually install it through Google Play but it does seem to be on F-Droid too.
That could probably be its own post, people have pretty strong opinions on that haha.
Me personally I’ve always been partial to Mario Kart 64 (& I know lots of people hate on it). It has just the right balance of speed and driving mechanics that make it a good racing game. Later on remember playing the follow-up on the Gamecube (Mario Kart Double Dash) & I never really liked that one, it just feels kind of slow/sluggish compared to 64. Like it’s trying to be a racing game but it just runs too slow IMO.

Growing up we used to live in a house with what I swear was the smallest boiler ever so the hot water would only last for maybe 1-2 showers before needing some time to get hot again. So leaving the water running meant no hot water midway through the shower, or forcing the next person to wait to take a shower.
It’s a habit that stuck with me ever since, I’ve found that I don’t really need the water running the whole time anyway.
Doubt it, kind of assumed once the mesh breaks the chair is done. Maybe someone handy with that stuff can rig up something to fix a chair like that?
To be fair the mesh seems pretty strong, mines hasn’t broken thus far.
Years back I bought a used Herman Miller Aeron, it was way out of warranty but also way cheaper vs buying new. Totally worth it, I do like mesh chairs and the Aeron is one of the best in its class. Plus it has a ton of adjustable levers if that’s your thing.
The only thing I screwed up was the sizing, those chairs come in different sizes and I probably should have gone for one size smaller but it’s not a big deal. Sizing is something to keep in mind when chair shopping, they’re not all one size fits all and you may want something specific to your height/weight for better support.
No, not since high school / moving out of the house. I did live in the house for a few years after high school while commuting to a local college and working part-time (full-time during the summer), that certainly helped me get on my own feet even if it wasn’t specifically financial.
My parents weren’t particularly wealthy. At one point they had even declared bankruptcy so I didn’t try too hard to get any school loans through them let alone anything else regarding money.
Video editing / post production is the type of work that you need to have contacts in the industry to really get by. So you’d still apply to job postings but after a while the different production crews working on projects will have your info & can book you on future gigs when things go well.
I am not in that field but have a few friends/family doing it. Traditionally the majority of those type of jobs tend to be in the NYC area or southern California. I know people use Mandy to look for those type of jobs but I’m not too up to date on other places. That yt site you mentioned seems a bit hacky, maybe designed to attract beginner youtube influencer types.
